ARTICLE 1: PARTICIPANTS IN THE MERCENARY EXPEDITION (1991)
The Mercenary Expedition was an event that took place over the course of several weeks in 1991. The Expedition can be described as a war fought between 5 corporations that attempted to seize control of the island, among other objectives that varied between the companies. The results of the war, including completed objectives and the number of casualties are currently unknown. As of 1992, the United Nations and DPAA seized control of the island as a result of the island becoming public knowledge as a direct result of a handful of plane crash survivors escaping from the island (See Article 2 for more details).
Based on limited interviews, leaked documents, and conjecture - the companies were seeking more than just control of the island. The companies also sought after Dr. Crane’s Research, their own research, and the long-lost Treasure of Captain Orion Crowe - one that is said to be priceless.

ARTICLE 1.1: BIOLOGICAL GENETICS TECHNOLOGY
Founded on the ideals of preserving the natural world and safeguarding our planet’s native animal life, Biological Genetics Technology (or BioGen) sought to use cloning and genetic engineering to conserve nature and save endangered animals from falling into a man-made extinction. Under the leadership of the American geneticist Dr. Richard Carter, and funded by the British Entrepreneur William Sullivan, the two spearheaded several conservation projects that have saved countless species. They are most famously known for the cloning of the American alligator and bald eagle as they were considered to be endangered species in the United States throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
Tragically, the passing of Dr. Richard Carter cast a somber shadow that spelled uncertainty for the company’s future. Thankfully, his successor was found in the well-known geneticist and vocal environmentalist Dr. James Creed, who helped usher in a new, transformative age for BioGen. Dr. Creed believed in using the power of cloning and genetic engineering to fight symptoms that would eventually be called global warming, a new and highly debated topic within the scientific community in a time where a cooling trend was being put forward. The company planned to use their cloning capabilities to resurrect extinct species and introduce them into different environments to restore lost ecological balances as well as help mitigate carbon emissions and combat deforestation. Although this noble cause was applauded by most in the scientific community, there were a handful of scientists that pushed back against Dr. Creed.
Undeterred by the skepticism, Dr. James Creed visited the World’s Science and Technology Conference to give a presentation on the threat of global warming. While at the conference, Dr. Creed attended the presentation of the controversial Dr. Albert Crane. He was particularly fascinated with what Dr. Crane had to say, and he genuinely believed that he was onto something. Despite the negative reception Dr. Crane received, Dr. Creed and a handful of other entrepreneurial scientists banded together to seek him out and give him a shot at redemption.

INVOLVEMENT IN PROJECT CLONE-A-SAURUS
​
As the laboratories and research centers were being built on Petrel’s Paradise, BioGen geneticists and Dr. Albert Crane worked tirelessly at the BioGen Headquarters in Florida to unlock the secrets of cloning dinosaur DNA. Over the course of six grueling years, Dr. Crane refined his cloning process methods by meticulously modifying BioGen’s current computer systems to fit his needs.
To extract ancient DNA, BioGen acquired a variety of fossil specimens that were collected through both legal and illegal means. Using state-of-the-art mineral deposit analyzers and gene sequencers, the fossils were analyzed, and a “raw” code of DNA was assembled by the computer. Unfortunately, countless fossils were partially, or completely, destroyed as they needed to be ground up in order to be analyzed.
Through Project Clone-a-Saurus, BioGen set its sights to clone a variety of dinosaurs to combat the looming threat of global warming. Dr. Creed believed that by resurrecting key dinosaur species, they would be able to revitalize lost ecological niches, which in turn would help limit carbon emissions. Driven by the promise of a greener future, BioGen knew that the result of this endeavor could help save the world… little did they know, the worst was yet to come.

THE MERCENARY EXPEDITION

In 1991, BioGen hired the Anti-Animal Trafficking agency “Endangered Species Protection Agency” (ESPA) to undertake a mission to Petrel’s Paradise. Driven by a strong sense of comradery, teamwork, and altruism, the ESPA mercenaries embarked on their mission to retrieve Dr. Crane’s invaluable research, as well as DNA samples. A secondary squad was dispatched to find and retrieve Captain Crowe’s long-lost treasure.

Donovan’s respect for nature wasn’t just built on admiration, but also fear. He was afraid of its unpredictability, mercilessness, and brutality. Despite seeing it all, he can never get used to the stench of death on a predator's breath, nor its cold eyes.

In her mid-twenties, Isabelle was handpicked by the prestigious Endangered Species Protection Agency (ESPA) and thrust into a life of adventure where she used her skills to provide support to her team as well as handle many dangerous reptiles.

ARTICLE 1.2: PHARMACEUTICALS SYNTHETICS TECHNOLOGIES, INC
Something sinister lies underneath the facade of scientific progress within the halls of Pharmaceutical Synthetics Technologies, Inc (Pharma Synthetics). Driven by a distorted sense of altruism and an insatiable thirst for total control, the two brothers, Drs. Jack and Henry Spencer, along with geneticist Dr. Edward Marcus transformed their company into a global leader in bioengineering and biotechnology. Originally, Pharma Synthetics was solely focused on studying diseases, however, their involvement in Project Clone-a-Saurus made them want to expand their ambitions onto new markets and goals.
Pharma Synthetics is among the top of the biomedical industry, primarily selling life-saving drugs that help treat various diseases and illnesses that were once deemed incurable. Despite this, their pursuit in progress often blurred the boundaries between advancing our knowledge and ethics. The Spencers and Marcus often justified their morally dubious actions by stating that the sacrifice of a few was necessary for the greater good. They believed in an unwavering commitment to order as well as a strict adherence to protocols, regardless of the cost of life, be it their test subjects or their own personnel. Faced with public scrutiny from animal protection laws as well as organizations such as ESPA, Dr. Marcus embarked on a desperate, yet unconventional search to find new specimens to unwittingly submit to the company’s experiments. What he would find would unlock ideas and visions of something far more… monstrous and unsettling than anyone could ever dream of.
In 1969, Dr. Marcus attended the World’s Science and Technology Conference when he heard rumors about ambitious presentations on genetically modified organisms and creating life. Dr. Marcus was drawn to Dr. Albert Crane and his theory of resurrecting dinosaurs through genetic modification. He envisioned other potentially lucrative applications for these dinosaurs and their DNA that would help Pharma Synthetics rule the business world… and more. Along with a handful of other entrepreneurial scientists, Dr. Marcus sought out Dr. Crane to see if he could truly transform his disturbing ambitions into reality.

INVOLVEMENT IN PROJECT CLONE-A-SAURUS
​
Before starting Project Clone-a-Saurus, the five companies agreed to a contract that explicitly outlined their goals and intentions for the project so that budget can be properly allocated as well as avoid any research overlap and create internal competition. Pharma Synthetics agreed to this contract, stating that they would study and experiment on the dinosaurs for two reasons: to test their new drugs for possible side effects and to study the immune systems of these ancient beasts to find new ways to treat different diseases and ailments.
Unbeknownst to the others, Pharma Synthetics had a secondary agenda. In a shadowy agreement with an undisclosed third party, Dr. Henry Spencer and Dr. Marcus embarked on a chilling endeavor that went far beyond the boundaries of ethics: the splicing of human and dinosaur DNA to breed living bioweapons in the form of dinosaur-human hybrids… They would become the next generation of super soldiers.

THE MERCENARY EXPEDITION
​
Existing as a sort of “urban legend” amongst mercenary groups and conspiracy theorists, Pharma Synthetics commanded their own private military force known as the Reaper Corps. These elite mercenaries were infamous for their cold and unfeeling demeanor as well as their chillingly efficient tactics and stealthy prowess, earning them the ominous moniker of Reaper Corps.
Led by the ruthless Aria Ravenwood, the Reaper Corps infiltrated Petrel’s Paradise and was tasked with finding Dr. Albert Crane’s research, collecting DNA Samples from the island’s top predators, finding Captain Orion Crowe’s lost treasure, and eliminating any opposition. With silent determination, these hunters stalked the dense jungles, proving that the dinosaurs weren’t the only predators on the island.

The analysis revealed disturbing and borderline psychopathic behavior exhibited by the soldier. Eriksson’s demeanor was described as detached with a perverse enjoyment in acts of violence. Despite these alarming traits, he ascended to a position of prominence as one of Reaper Corp’s top lieutenants.

ARTICLE 1.3: GENETIC TECH
It is often said that Genetic Tech (GeneTech) had more judges, lawyers, and spies on their payroll than it did actual scientists. Under the leadership of the shady entrepreneur Johannes Steyn and the greedy geneticist Dr. Lars Anker, this South African genetics company amassed a laundry list of controversies and scandals. Due to this tarnished reputation, GeneTech started to hide its activities under a new brand, VersaMart. Acting as the puppet master for this company, they could continue their nefarious ways without it being traced back to them or GeneTech.
Motivated by bottomless greed and a thirst for market supremacy, GeneTech viewed its projects not as opportunities, but as calculated schemes designed to drain every dollar from their unsuspecting customers. Through VersaMart, they even went as far as to create small issues that only their products could resolve and thus make their customers depend on them.
Enter evil incarnate, Dr. Lars Anker, a cunning and opportunistic scientist driven by personal gain and thirst for fame and fortune. As Dr. Anker tirelessly searched for his next victim, he stumbled upon Dr. Crane’s presentation at the World’s Science and Technology Conference. His mouth salivated as Dr. Crane presented GeneTech’s ultimate commodity... dinosaurs!
Doubtful of GeneTech's capacity to achieve this feat alone, Dr. Anker hatched a devious plan. He orchestrated a small coalition of interested companies, and he cunningly deceived them into starting and funding Project Clone-a-Saurus, through which he intended to exploit and pilfer what he could while they did all of the heavy lifting!

INVOLVEMENT IN PROJECT CLONE-A-SAURUS
​
As far as GeneTech’s unsuspecting colleagues were concerned, VersaMart was planning on producing a line of miniature dinosaurs as pets, complete with a range of exclusively branded accessories such as chew toys, synthetic food pellets, and medication. These little pets could only survive on VersaMart brand products, thus establishing a monopoly on their market niche.
But as per GeneTech’s reputation, this facade hid a network of spies that infiltrated the other research teams on Petrel’s Paradise. They were tasked with covertly copying and forwarding their colleagues’ research to their headquarters, seizing it for their own commercial gain. GeneTech was also engaged in smuggling select dinosaurs off the island to sell as exotic pets to select clientele worldwide.
GeneTech’s cover was eventually blown when they were caught red-handed by Pharma Synthetics as they attempted to smuggle a pair of gallimimus off the island. An internal investigation was launched, and GeneTech and VersaMart’s activities on the island were revealed. This prompted an immediate expulsion from the project, which inadvertently kickstarted the beginning of the end for Project Clone-a-Saurus. Tensions started to rise between the remaining companies as the seeds of distrust and discord had been sewn.

THE MERCENARY EXPEDITION

Having heard about the expeditions to Petrel’s Paradise through his spy network, Dr. Lars Anker wasted no time in assembling a group of his top agents and South African mercenaries for a mission to the island. As the driving force behind this expedition, Dr. Lars Anker had three objectives: secure Captain Orion Crowe’s long-lost treasure, retrieve Dr. Crane’s research, and steal dinosaur eggs. If given the opportunity, GeneTech was also prepared to steal research from their former collaborators as well as sabotage their teams on the island.

Known for his fearlessness in the face of danger, Brock Tuskwood’s legendary name is well known across the rugged landscapes of his home state of Alaska. Claiming to have slain nearly every dangerous animal in America and Africa, Tuskwood remains unrivaled as the most dangerous hunter on the planet. His ranch is filled with various mounted trophies of the different animals he has killed throughout his career, with plenty of space for more. In 1991, Dr. Lars Anker approached the boastful huntsman for a hunting opportunity of a lifetime. Before the doctor can even finish his sentence, Tuskwood gleefully accepted the offer, stating that he had plenty of space for a “stuffed Tyrannosaurus rex head” in his living room.

ARTICLE 1.4: PENWARD GLOBAL
From its humble origins as a financier of modest construction projects across the United Kingdom, Penward Financing swiftly emerged as a dominant force in the weapons manufacturing industry. With the outbreak of the Second World War in Europe, Jeremy Penward and Penward Financing played a pivotal role in providing substantial financial capital to produce weapons, vehicles, and training camps for the British and Allied Forces. With the shifting tides of geopolitics after the Second World War, Penward Financing pivoted its focus toward funding cutting-edge military technologies to strengthen Great Britain’s defense capabilities on a global scale. From then on, Penward Financing rebranded itself to Penward Global.
Continuing his grandfather’s legacy, Samuel Penward looked to expand the company’s ambitions beyond new military contracts. Samuel steered Penward Global towards new opportunities in the fields of medicine and genetic engineering to build a robust and diverse portfolio alongside their military work. The medical industry was very competitive, but it promised lucrative returns. Meanwhile, genetic engineering was a newly emerging market, and it presented opportunities that Penward Global did not want to miss out on.
Samuel Penward’s next venture stirred controversy amongst his board of directors. Amidst the heated debates between these businessmen, they argued on the feasibility of producing genetically modified animals of war. What kind of animal could serve as the ideal companion on the battlefield? It needed to be something powerful but loyal - cunning and protective. No one was able to agree on which animal could serve as the perfect companion in the battlefield until Samuel Penward had an epiphany at the World’s Science and Technology Conference. The perfect companion died over 65 million years ago!

INVOLVEMENT IN PROJECT CLONE-A-SAURUS
​
Penward Global’s goal was ambitious - to transform dinosaurs into the ultimate weapon. To achieve loyalty and instill familiarity with human handlers, they enlisted the world’s foremost expert on training animals for military service, Nick Harris, along with a team of behaviorists and handlers. Each dinosaur species presented a unique opportunity for different applications on the battlefield due to their body types, and natural abilities. Ankylosaurus could be used as literal living tanks, deinonychus could be stealthy assassins, compsognathus could be used for infiltration and espionage, etc.
Despite the mixed results from training and the other tests that were conducted, Penward Global identified three species that exhibited incredible promise: the relentless and armored pachycephalosaurus, the silent and cunning deinonychus, and the deadly accurate dilophosaurus. With a combination of rigorous training, behavioral conditioning, and specialized behavior-inhibiting technology, the first generation of weaponized dinosaurs was ready to reshape the landscape of warfare. Combat was evolving.

THE MERCENARY EXPEDITION
​
For Penward Global, the Mercenary Expedition served as a field test for their new weaponized dinosaurs more than anything else. Focused solely on retrieving Dr. Crane’s research, the company dispatched a squad of their finest trained mercenaries alongside a squad of weaponized dinosaurs under the guidance of Nick Harris. The Mercenary Expedition proved to be a great success for Penward Global, and it would pave the way for a new generation of weaponized dinosaurs…

Having worked with Penward Global in the past, he was among one of the best candidates to travel to Petrel’s Paradise.

Nicholas Harris is a decorated former Navy Seal and renowned for his expertise in training canine companions to accompany soldiers into battle. Having worked under Captain Hank Overton in his animal training program, Harris came highly recommended as the head researcher and trainer for Penward Global's Dinosaur Domestication Project (DDP). Harris worked on the Project for several years on Petrel’s Paradise before being moved to one of Penward Global’s secret facilities after the abandonment of the island. While there, he made a major breakthrough and helped produce the first generation of "Dino Soldiers".

Revered for his exceptional work ethic and leadership skills, Hank Overton is among the best that the Navy had to offer. His tenure included spearheading several initiatives, most notably soldier rehabilitation projects, and the animal training program alongside Harris. Overton played a pivotal role in developing new weapons and protective gear under Penward Global before switching his attention to the Dinosaur Domestication Project. He hired Harris to lead Penward Global's team of scientists and trainers. Captain Overton was immensely proud of this endeavor as he believed the project that would save countless lives.

As a subsidiary of the media powerhouse Great North Studios, Great North Engineering (GNE) is at the forefront of innovation! In the name of entertainment, GNE uses cutting-edge technology and the world’s best engineers and designers to produce a wide array of technological marvels, from lifelike animatronics to immersive theme parks. The company is a conglomerate of multiple engineering firms, design studios, and construction companies that were bought out by Great North Studios throughout the years, but GNE’s origins can be traced all the way back to the 1950s when their parent company was planning to build their first theme park!
Renowned for its ingenuity and ambition, Great North Engineering blurred the line between reality and imagination by bringing to life the iconic characters and films produced by the animation studio in the form of beloved rides and attractions across Canada. Some of these creations include Mitchel Moose’s Wild River Adventure, Mountie Mike’s Horseback rollercoaster, the Haunted Chalet maze, and the Woodsman of the Northern Frontiers dark ride!
All these beloved rides and parks would pale in comparison to what Great North Studios and Great North Engineering have spent the last few years planning. Destined to be the company’s most ambitious project yet, “Primeval Gardens” was slated to be the world’s most advanced resort, theme park, and zoo! INVOLVEMENT IN PROJECT CLONE-A-SAURUS

Great North Engineering played a pivotal role in the construction and maintenance of the island’s various facilities, from the laboratories to the worker town. With an emphasis on learning how to shelter, feed, and care for these animals, GNE used their expertise to develop innovative technologies that would be able to house and cater to the needs of their dinosaurs as well as ensure they are properly fed and taken care of on the island. With meticulous research and dedication to these animals, Great North Engineering not only advanced the understanding of animal care, but also laid the foundation for dinosaur and prehistoric animal care.
Moreover, GNE also used the dinosaurs as an opportunity to test out a variety of new safety and surveillance equipment. Motion tracking, thermal camera surveillance, and other state-of-art technologies were developed for use on the island first, before being implemented into their theme parks and headquarters in Canada.

THE MERCENARY EXPEDITION

For the Mercenary Expedition, Great North Engineering assembled an elite team of the best mercenaries and hunters that money can buy. Led by the famous Celebrity-Paleontologist Dr. Rachel Sternberg, their mission was to retrieve Dr. Crane’s research and capture a handful of different dinosaurs using state-of-the-art “dino capture” vehicles. A secondary squad was tasked with finding Captain Orion Crowe’s long-lost treasure to further deepen the pockets of Great North Studios.

ARTICLE 2.0: THE PLANE CRASH INCIDENT (1992)
The Plane Crash Incident was an event that took place over the course of a couple of weeks in 1992. A commercial aircraft was flying over the Atlantic Ocean from Rio de Janeiro toward Africa, however upon flying over Petrel's Paradise, a trio of unknown Pterosaurs had attacked the plane. This caused the plane to crash near the shore of the island. There were several casualties from the crash. A group of Survivors managed to escape the wreckage and trek across the island in order to call for help and escape from the Archipelago.
We have yet to interview all of the survivors, and as additional testimonials are recorded and transcribed, our records will also see an update as well. We are also waiting on the Brazilian Government to hand us the passenger and staff manifest so we can confirm who had passed away, who is missing, and who made it off the island.
